Why we need salvation?

Friend, first, you can be sure that God loves you unconditionally and desires to have a personal relationship with you. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Next, you need to admit your sinful nature to God, because this is what separates all of us from Him.”For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

You should also understand that you can’t please God through your own efforts, and realize that salvation through Jesus Christ is a free gift that none of us deserves. “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

Salvation is a free gift that not only do we not deserve, but we also can’t earn it. “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

If we remain unrepentant sinners, we will die. This is talking about the SECOND death. Death of the soul or eternal separation from God. However, if we repent of our sins, and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will have eternal life. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

How to be saved?

Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and you are saved. That’s it! There are no other religious formulas or rituals. Just call upon the name of the Lord and you will be saved.

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

“That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)

Finally, you just need to step in and accept God’s free gift — His Son, Jesus Christ.
“As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12). Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in” (Revelation 3:20).

If you want to receive Jesus now, and accept His free gift of salvation, here’s a basic prayer for you (again, this is not a ritual based on the specific words, but rather, a guideline for your sincere step of faith)…

Oh God, I know that I’m a sinner. I know that on my own, I cannot live forever with you in Heaven. I believe Jesus Christ is your son. I believe You sent Him to Earth to die for my sin. I believe He paid the price for all I’ve done wrong. I believe You raised Him from the dead and that He ascended up to You and because of that I can too. I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and believe in my heart that as I am calling on the name of the Lord, as it says in the Bible, I am saved!

Congratulations on accepting Jesus Christ into your heart as your Lord and Savior. The angels in heaven are rejoicing over you, as are we!

The next step is to join a local church and be baptized. If you are looking for a church home, you are always welcomed to join us at H.O.P.E.’s House.
